Rehabilitation Officer Visual Impairment

Location: West Lothian (hybrid role). A community base will be allocated in due course. However, this post will have allocated days each week that require home working.
Hours: Full time
Salary: The salary is competitive; however, there is flexibility for the right candidate. A £5,000 relocation package is available.

Visibility Scotland provides West Lothian Rehabilitation Services on behalf of West Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership. West Lothian Rehabilitation and Habilitation service aims to provide early intervention and holistic services that empowers and promotes independence.  Visibility Scotland are now recruiting a qualified Rehabilitation Officer Visual Impairment (ROVI) to become part of a dynamic and innovative team. To apply for this exciting full-time post (part time hours will be considered) you must be passionate, creative, inspiring and able to work under your own initiative. The ROVI will work closely with Visibility Scotland’s Habilitation Worker.

This is a two year fixed term contract that has the potential to be extended.

This role will require the successful candidate to undertake a specialist assessment of need with the visually impaired person. The ROVI will provide a service for adults with a visual impairment that promotes their independence and empowers the person to reach their goals and aspirations.  The ROVI will plan, implement, evaluate and review rehabilitative services, ensuring the right service is delivered at the right time.

The role will include the distribution and management of a digital technology lending library, offering the people of West Lothian the opportunity to try accessible smart devices.

A mobile technology kit will be provided. This will offer service users the chance to explore assistive technology in their own home. The post-holder will link in closely with other departments in the organisation – in particular, the digital resource suite – to offer technical solutions and training.

Successful candidates will be provided with internal training on cutting edge Assistive Technology, as well as the Accessibility features on mainstream devices. The training and development of skills will enable the post holder to provide additional support in the use of these devices, with the aim of increasing the service user’s independence.
