About David

I have lived with sight loss for most of my life and am registered blind. I completed my professional counselling training in 2001 and graduated from Chichester University. My first formal counselling role was in occupational health at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester.

I then founded a specialist VI counselling service for Blatchington Court Trust in Hove. I lead this service for over 20 years and provided counselling for children, young adults, and their families. In 2023 I founded and currently lead a similar service for Sight Support Worthing, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. I provide counselling for clients of all ages from all over Sussex and also provide a telephone and online service.

I feel privileged to be in the position to support others who face challenges that I can personally identify with and relate to. I have genuinely been humbled by many of the clients and have gained a great deal of knowledge and awareness from their experiences and insights.

I am looking forward to taking part in the counselling peer support group and feel it is a great opportunity for those of us working in this field to share and support one another.  Our roles in this sector can at times feel isolating and there are many challenges to face.  My hope is that together we can become more effective through our shared experiences and support for one another.
