See My Skills
Wednesday 1 December 2021
1:00 pm to 2:00pm
Join Vision Foundation to explore how the sector could better collaborate to address barriers to employment for visually impaired people.
There is a growing call for greater inclusion in the workplace, especially where we are faced with an ever-worsening sight loss employment gap of 48%.
As an intelligence-informed funder, Vision Foundation commissioned the See My Skills research (opens Vision Foundation website) published in July 2021 to not only inform their grant-making, but also add to the growing evidence of the inequity faced by blind and partially sighted people seeking employment, with tangible recommendations to influence both policy and practice.
With approximately 300,000 visually impaired people of working age unemployed, at a cost of £28bn to the UK economy, how can the sector most effectively collaborate to address the barriers to employment?
At this interactive session, we will:
- Discuss key issues and barriers to employment faced by visually impaired people.
- Highlight lived insights and practical recommendations for greater inclusion.
- Explore tangible opportunities for greater collaboration within the sector and beyond.
