This session will explore the key findings of RNIB’s Value of Vision report. The Value of Vision report is a new resource that highlights the social and economic case for urgently needed change in eye care.

New data shows that NHS eye care services across the UK are under severe pressure – with costs forecast to rise from £4.1 billion today to £5.1 billion by 2035. Waiting times have surged, increasing clinical risk and the risk of avoidable sight loss. Without urgent action, these pressures will escalate – for both patients and NHS systems.

The Value of Vision sets out six practical, evidence-based interventions that could help transform eye care services, reduce pressure on NHS resources, and prevent avoidable sight loss. Each recommendation is grounded in proven best practice already working successfully in parts of the UK.
