Colleagues from across the Visionary network are invited to join our monthly peer support forum. The forum offers a safe and informal space to connect with colleagues who understand the challenges, exchange ideas and practical insights, and support each other.

All those developing or delivering services for children, young people and their families are welcome.

On 4 June, we are pleased to be joined by Harriet Price from Guide Dogs UK to share the findings of their report, ‘Inclusive starts: stronger futures’ | Guide Dogs (opens window). The report shows that too often, children and young people with a vision impairment in England are missing out on vital specialist support and learning. Only half (55%) of children received support from a specialist vision impairment teacher, and less than a third (31%) received essential ‘habilitation’ to support their mobility and independent living skills. With the Government currently reforming the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) system in England, Guide Dogs is calling for the reforms to ensure all children with a vision impairment can reach their full potential.
