Vision Collaborative Scotland is a group of third-sector organisations which all work to support people with vision impairment in Scotland. Membership includes the five largest VI charities working in Scotland today, together with Thomas Pocklington Trust, The Rehabilitation Workers Professional Network and the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland. Visionary joined the group in summer 2025 to provide a critical link to local sight loss organisations.

With substantial evidence of a rehabilitation workforce crisis in Scotland, the group set about working in partnership with the University of Strathclyde to offer two new courses in vision rehabilitation which will commence January 2026. The courses are just part of an ambitious system-change approach to vision rehab, with the Collaborative working with the University of Melbourne to research the effectiveness of vision rehabilitation and habilitation, and a campaign focused on investment in vision rehab training, promotion of Scottish quality standards and instigation of a long-needed workforce review.

Join this online event and hear from the Chair of Vision Collaborative Scotland, Susan Shippey, about how we are galvanising our sector in Scotland to meet the big challenges no single organisation can deliver alone. Susan has worked in public health and social care for over thirty years. She has worked for over ten years in sensory loss planning and commissioning in a large Scottish Health and Social Care Partnership, enjoyed a two-year secondment to the Scottish Government sensory loss policy team, and was delighted to take up post as Head of Strategic Partnerships for Sight Scotland and Sight Scotland Veterans in March 2025.
