Vision Rehabilitation Professional – Bermuda

About the role
Vision Bermuda is a registered charity providing specialist services to people who are blind or visually impaired across the island. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Vision Rehabilitation Professional to join our small, committed team.
This is a varied, autonomous role with a strong focus on functional vision rehabilitation, service development, and community engagement. Experience working with children or within integrated health and social care settings would be an advantage.
Key responsibilities
• Undertake comprehensive vision rehabilitation assessments and develop person-centred rehabilitation plans to support individuals at home, in the community, and in educational or vocational settings.
• Deliver specialist vision rehabilitation programmes, including orientation and mobility training, independent living and assistive technology instruction.
• Design and facilitate group-based rehabilitation and skills training in response to identified needs.
• Work collaboratively with community agencies, government departments, and education and health professionals to deliver integrated, coordinated support.
• Provide community education and outreach, promoting visual health awareness and Vision Bermuda’s services.
• Maintain accurate records, outcome data, and reports to support service delivery and services.
• Supervise, train, and support professionals and volunteers involved in vision rehabilitation programmes.
• Provide home-based and community-based services, including travel across the island as required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
• Diploma or Foundation Degree in Rehabilitation Work (Visual Impairment) or equivalent recognised qualification.
• RWPN (Rehabilitation Workers Professional Network) registration or eligibility for registration is recognised and accepted.
• Minimum five years’ experience as a Vision Rehabilitation Professional or in a closely related rehabilitation role.
• Strong knowledge of assistive technology, current rehabilitation approaches, and emerging practice.
• Proven experience in programme development, delivery, and evaluation is essential.
• Experience working within integrated health and social care systems is desirable.
• Confidence in representing services to clients, partners, and potential donors is desirable.
• Hold a full UK driving licence and be willing and eligible to obtain a full Bermuda driving licence.
