Closing date: Monday 23 February 2026
Location: Remote with occasional travel to London
Salary: n/a

For nearly 100 years, BWBF has supported people with sight loss. Now we’re transforming from traditional audio device provision to comprehensive technology empowerment – and we’re looking for exceptional trustees to help shape this evolution.

This is your opportunity to join at a pivotal moment. In 2026, we’re launching a major rebrand backed by comprehensive research with people living with sight loss. You won’t be inheriting a finished strategy; you’ll be helping to implement and refine it.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking 2-3 new trustees who can bring fresh perspectives and specialist expertise to complement our existing board. We’re particularly interested in candidates with:

  • Lived experience of sight loss – authentic perspective is invaluable
  • Fundraising and income generation expertise – major donors, grants, corporate partnerships
  • Technology sector experience – digital services, accessibility, product development
  • Senior leadership experience – CEO or Director-level in relevant sectors

Why Join Now

  • Transformation opportunity: Shape how a heritage charity evolves for its next century
  • Evidence-based strategy: Research-driven approach, not guesswork
  • Real impact: Technology empowerment genuinely changes lives
  • Perfect timing: Join as rebrand launches and new chapter begins

The Role

As a BWBF trustee, you’ll:

  • Provide strategic direction and governance oversight
  • Attend quarterly board meetings (both online and in person) plus committee work
  • Contribute specialist expertise to support organisational growth
  • Help shape service delivery for people with sight loss

This is an unremunerated voluntary role. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
