We have an exciting opportunity for a trainee assistant vision rehabilitation specialist working with Visually Impaired individuals.

This is a fixed term role until 31 March 2024 – the role may be extended dependent on entry onto the FdSc Rehabilitation Work (Visual Impairment) course at Birmingham City University.

Vista will pay the course fees as part of the position of Trainee Vision Rehabilitation Specialist.

Your starting salary will be £22,800.78 per annum which will increase to £32,291.46 per annum upon successful qualification.

As a Trainee Vision Rehabilitation Specialist, you will contribute as a full-time member of staff, 37 hours per week, to the services across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, whilst successfully completing all elements of the 2-year Training programme in Rehabilitation Work (Visual Impairment).

The content of the training will be covered through a mix of on the job, and off the job training. On the job training will be provided by Vista as part of the job role of Trainee Vision Rehabilitation Specialist and off the job training will be covered by the Birmingham City University, key details of which are below.

REHABILITATION WORK (VISUAL IMPAIRMENT) – FDSC Course key dates:

  • Application deadline date (if successful, applications must be made to BCU Course by this date): Early March 2024  TBC
  • BCU Trainee Assessment dates: Late March  TBC
  • Course dates: Course Starting Sept 2024, 2-year course.

Successful applicants will be required to apply to, and be accepted by, Vision Rehabilitation Training to undertake the Rehabilitation Work (Visual Impairment) FDSC
