Would you enjoy supporting blind and partially sighted people with understanding technology, explaining how it could work for them and troubleshooting any difficulties they may be experiencing? Would you like to improve your understanding of assistive technology, including accessibility features on Apple and Android devices, Windows and Mackintosh computers, and a wide variety of specialist technology and smart devices. If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Technology for Life team.

The RNIB is the leading UK’s sight loss charity helping blind and partially sighted people thrive. The Technology For Life team supports over 600 customers a month, explaining and troubleshooting the technology issues they may be experiencing, empowering them with new skills and fresh understanding, improving their independence and autonomy.

The Technology For Life team is highly regarded in the blind and partially sighted community and is often the first port of call for anyone needing to get to grips with their devices and software. The team aims to create a country where access to devices, information and entertainment has no barriers for those living with a sight impairment.

This role could be your first job or your next move to getting back into work after a break. You will have sound IT skills including experience with MS Office – Outlook, Word, and Excel and also an intermediate knowledge of assistive technology.  Good attention to detail and solid communication and organisational skills is also essential.

The role is part of RNIB’s See Work Differently employment initiative for unemployed blind and partially sighted people to secure that first rung on the career ladder or who are returning to work following a career break.

This role is funded specifically for candidates who experience sight loss and we are looking forward to receiving your application, if this applies to you.

In exchange we offer a stimulating and supportive working environment and a benefits package including (this is pro rata):

  • 26 days holiday per year (plus bank holidays), which increase with service.
  • An excellent pension scheme.
  • Flexible working
  • Staff discount schemes
