Hours: 37
Salary: £22,000 to £24,000 pa
Contract: Permanent
Interview date: TBC

Join our small and friendly Outreach Team! This is a rewarding, diverse and interesting role. Knowledge of low vision and blindness, and low vision items and equipment aren’t essential as training will be provided.

About Us

Cam Sight is a Cambridgeshire charity dedicated to supporting local people of all ages living with low vision and blindness.

We offer a broad range of services including information, advice and advocacy; practical and emotional support; leisure and sports activities, equipment and technology to enhance independence, wellbeing and inclusion.

We are looking to recruit an Outreach Worker to join our Client Services Team.

The Role

In this exciting role, reporting to the Client Services Manager, you will contribute to our front-line work with people experiencing visual impairment in the community.

You will work with visually impaired people through a combination of one-to-one home visits, and peer support groups in Cambridgeshire.

Working closely with the Mobile Support Lead (who delivers Equipment and Technology demonstrations from our purpose-built van), you will demonstrate low vision items, equipment and technology to enable visually impaired people to gain their independence.

You will offer a comprehensive information, advice, casework and advocacy service to visually impaired people, including providing support to apply for benefits, concessions and individual grants, and referrals to other organisations.

You will develop and deliver a range of sports and leisure activities and outings for visually impaired people within your region.

About You

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic and outgoing individual who communicates well and thrives on building relationships.

You will need to be flexible and responsive and able to manage your own workload.

Knowledge of low vision and blindness, and low vision items and equipment are desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

It goes without saying that you will need a full, valid driving license or access to transport via a support worker.

Please read the job description and person specification prior to applying as you will need to refer to these in your application should you wish to apply.

If you are interested in this role, please send your C.V. and a covering letter of no more than two sides of A4 detailing how you meet the requirements for the role and your motivations for wanting to work at Cam Sight to Pete Smale.

The closing date for this role is noon on Thursday 15 September, with interviews TBC.
