About Us

Cam Sight is a charity that supports local people of all ages living with low vision and blindness in Cambridgeshire to live the life they choose.

Our vision is a world of equality and we strive to empower and enable everyone to reach their full potential. Our beneficiaries are at the heart of everything we do – we’re here for a friendly chat, whether on the phone or over a cup of tea, to provide emotional and practical support, information and advice.

We’re currently looking for a Mobile Services Lead to join our Fenland Team and deliver our mobile service throughout North Cambridgeshire.

The Benefits

  • Help make a positive change in people’s lives

If you have experience in delivering community support and thrive on building strong relationships, this is an excellent opportunity to join our team and help raise awareness of our services in the North of Cambridgeshire.

This is a new role meaning you will have the chance to really shape it and make it your own. Out and about in the community, you’ll be part of our front-line team delivering engaging and practical support to our beneficiaries, helping them live the life they choose.

So, if you are looking for a rewarding role where you can truly make a difference as part of an organisation that will invest in your own career goals and aspirations, we want to hear from you!

The Role

As the Mobile Services Lead, you will provide support to our outreach workers working in the community and raise awareness of our services.

In this key role, you will effectively operate and oversee the daily running of our mobile unit which carries information about our services as well as a range of low vision items and equipment throughout Cambridgeshire.

You will develop and deliver an engaging and informative programme of pop-up sessions in various venues raising awareness of our services and demonstrating how to use low vision equipment.

Building strong links throughout the community, your role will also involve:

  • Helping to seek out new supporters and volunteers for our organisation
  • Assisting our outreach workers to provide support to people in their own homes and at group meetings
  • Supporting our fundraising and promotional activities

About You

To join us as the Mobile Services Lead, you will need:

  • Experience in delivering care and/or community support
  • Experience of forming relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • An understanding of blindness and low vision, or a willingness to learn
  • Good communication skills, both written and spoken
  • The ability to travel throughout North Cambridgeshire in our Mobile Unit (short wheel based van)

Previous experience in an outreach position is desirable.

Other organisations may call this role Senior Outreach Worker, Community Services Lead, Outreach Services Lead, Service Lead, or Community Services Team Leader.
