About Open Sight Hampshire
Open Sight Hampshire (Hampshire Association for the Care of the Blind) is a small independent charity that is making a difference to the lives of thousands of visually impaired people in Hampshire every year. Having celebrated our 100 years in 2022 we are moving forward into our next 100 with the mission of supporting more people to live their life whilst managing their visual impairment.
Delivered across Hampshire to over 3500 people, our services have impact across many aspects of the lives of the visually impaired. From making better use of residual sight, through emotional and physical wellbeing to financial security and independence, and we measure our services across all these aspects. To date, during 2023-24, 82% of people accessing our key services have reported improved well-being, and 65% have felt better able to continue to live a full and independent life.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Head of Service Development is responsible for the development, management, and delivery of our services to people with a visual impairment and their families. To do this you will
- Lead our team of committed front line staff and volunteers, ensuring they are supported to deliver high quality services.
- Work in partnership with stakeholders to co-produce and manage innovative and self-funded services that meet the needs of people living with a visual impairment from across Hampshire.
- To develop key performance metrics that demonstrate the impact of our services.
- To work with the leadership team to ensure the organisation is the no 1 sight loss provider in Hampshire.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
OSH is looking for someone who can take the strategic lead for all aspects of OSH’s service development and delivery to ensure that people with a visual impairment have the support they need to live their life. The successful applicant will have at the heart of their role, the desire to support people who need that extra support to be amazing. They will be able to subscribe OSH’s values and demonstrate them in their behaviours. They will be very organised, practical, proactive whilst managing a varied and busy workload. They will be very approachable and enjoy working as part of a diverse team and supporting others. The role will require the successful candidate to complete a basic DBS check.
