As a charity we have been supporting people living with sight loss in innovative ways since 1875. We are now seeking a dynamic Head of Retail to champion our mission in the Midlands. This is your chance to build something remarkable from the ground up, shape the future of Beacon in a diverse region, and guide our dedicated retail team in delivering performance and connectivity to allow the charity to perform its services.

As the Head of Retail, you will be responsible for leading shop and online teams through the day-to-day retail focuses and delivering the retail strategy, focusing on commercial & operational excellence, customer & shop experience, and creating the best place to work. You will always be looking for ways to drive continuous improvement and initiate new ways of working.

The Head of Retail will lead a new area rollout and growth over the coming years as Beacon grows its retail portfolio, supporting the finding and setting up of new shops across the region in a timely and cost-effective manner.

As the Head of Retail, you will forge strong relationships with key stakeholders like local communities and across the organisation including finance and communications as well as building and leading a high-performing team of staff and volunteers, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment in our shops.

As Head of Retail, you will:

  • Have excellent retail and trading skills with a minimum of 5 years multi-site experience
  • Have an exceptional track record in leading successful teams.
  • Be solution focussed and innovative, with the ability to think on your feet and react to changes with pace in an ever-changing environment.
  • Be a strategic thinker, able to set long term vision and switch between both short- and long-term activities.
  • Have a strong commercial awareness and acumen with the ability to analyse, identify trends and interpret data into meaningful actions that drive results.
  • Champion inclusion, building an environment that encourages and celebrates people for their individuality with a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of others.

All successful candidates will be required to undertake a basic DBS check, and to be able to travel throughout the Black Country and Staffordshire.
