Do you have previous experience of working with visually impaired learners from 0-25 years? As part of the SEND Specialist Service you’ll play a crucial role in promoting the inclusion of learners with a visual impairment who are pre-school or in mainstream or specialist settings, schools and colleges.

We are looking for an individual who is:

• Able to work independently.
• Highly motivated and able to work flexibly.
• Able to communicate well with children, parents and a range of education and other professionals.

Here is an opportunity for you to work in a vibrant, inclusive, inner London borough committed to helping visually impaired learners get the best out of education. You must possess or be about to  graduate in the ‘Graduate Diploma in Habilitation and Disabilities of Sight (Children and Young  People)’ or equivalent qualification OR be a qualified Rehabilitation Worker with experience of  working with visually impaired children and willing to undertake the ‘Habilitation Work – Working  with Children and Young People’ Top Up Degree – BSc (Hons). It is desirable that the candidate has a minimum of one year’s direct experience of teaching long cane to children and young people with a visual impairment, which may be as part of your course.
