Sight for Surrey is looking to recruit someone to join our existing Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO) team in the new Charity Services Department.  We are a leading charity commissioned by Surrey County Council supporting over 8,000 people across Surrey and offer a lifetime of support to people who are blind or partially sighted, Deaf, deafblind or hard of hearing.  Established in 1922, we are a countywide charity based in Fetcham, near Leatherhead.

This is a rewarding role that will give the right individual the opportunity to make a difference on a daily basis. You will be a vital member of the team working directly in the hospital eye clinics with people diagnosed with conditions causing sight loss. You will provide critical emotional support, information and guidance face to face and over the phone. Offering individually tailored advice, you will support people to adjust to their change in circumstances and provide signposting and onward referral/access to other services.

Ideally, you will have experience of delivering health or social care support services, in a care setting.  Key to this role will be your excellent communication and relationship-building skills with patients, clinicians and a wide variety of cross sector partners. This service works to an industry knowledge, quality framework and standard.  The candidate should have an understanding of the Health and Social Care Sector and experience of assessing individual needs; positive networking, presentation and partnership-building skills.  They also need to have personal initiative and the ability to prioritise their own workload and be self-sufficient. Excellent organisation skills and confident user of multiple IT systems.  As an RNIB ECLO, you will also complete the RNIB & City University ‘Eye Clinic Support Studies’ qualification: essential for the role, access to Clinical Supervision, peer support.
