This is a rewarding role that will give the right individual the opportunity to make a difference on a daily basis. You will be a vital member of the team working directly in the hospital eye clinics with people diagnosed with conditions causing sight loss. You will provide critical emotional support, information and guidance face to face and over the phone. Offering individually tailored advice, you will support people to adjust to their change in circumstances and provide signposting and onward referral/access to other services.

Ideally, you will have experience of delivering health or social care support services, in a care setting.  Key to this role will be your excellent administration skills, combined with communication, and relationship-building skills with patients, clinicians and a wide variety of cross sector partners. This service works to an industry knowledge, quality framework and standard.  The candidate should have an understanding of the Health and Social Care Sector and experience of assessing individual needs; positive networking, presentation and partnership-building skills.  They also need to have personal initiative and the ability to prioritise their own workload and be self-sufficient. Excellent organisation skills and confident user of multiple IT systems.  As an ECLO, you will also need to complete or have completed the RNIB & City University ‘Eye Clinic Support Studies ‘ qualification: essential for the role and we will organise this for the successful candidate. For further details of the role please see the job description.

A Disclosure and Barring Service will be required which we can arrange.

We can offer you:

  • A generous annual leave allowance (full time annual leave entitlement is 28 days per annum, plus bank holidays).
