Galloways are looking for a Community Sight Loss Advisor to support people across East Lancashire, providing practical advice, guidance and encouragement to help individuals navigate life with visual impairment.
This is a role where every conversation matters. You’ll work directly with people in their communities, helping them access support, build confidence and reconnect with the things that matter most to them.
If you’re passionate about supporting people, building community connections and making a genuine difference, they would love to hear from you.
This role is about supporting people to live well with sight loss.
You’ll be meeting individuals in the community, listening to their needs and helping them access the tools, services and support that allow them to maintain independence and confidence.
You may be:
-
Supporting someone to access the right equipment or technology
-
Connecting someone with local services or community groups
-
Helping someone build the confidence to try new activities
-
Providing reassurance and practical guidance following sight loss
Your role is to guide, empower and connect people to the support that helps them move forward.
You don’t necessarily need experience working in sight loss, but you do need to be comfortable supporting people and building relationships in the community.
They are looking for someone who:
-
Has experience providing information, advice or support to individuals
-
Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
-
Can build relationships with community groups and partner organisations
-
Is organised and able to manage their own workload
-
Is comfortable working independently in the community
-
Has good administrative and IT skills
-
Has a positive, proactive and solution-focused approach
It would also be helpful (but not essential) if you have experience in:
-
Community work
-
Disability support
-
Health or social care
-
The charity or voluntary sector
