Closing date: Thursday 30 June 2022
Location: Fetcham, Surrey
Contract: Volunteer
Interview date: TBC

Sight for Surrey is seeking to appoint a new Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Our current Chairman, Cecilia Power, has expressed a wish to stand down after 7 successful years as an inspirational Chairman presiding over a period that has seen the charity grow in scope and size.

Sight for Surrey, based in Fetcham, near Leatherhead, is an ambitious charity offering a lifetime of support to people who are blind or partially sighted, Deaf, deafblind or hard of hearing.  Our mission is to support people to overcome their day-to-day challenges, achieve their potential and lead an independent life.

We are celebrating our centenary year having been established in 1922 to support people who were blind, often as a result of fighting in the First World War. Today we support more than 8,000 people across the County of Surrey and operate significant sensory contracts as strategic partners of Surrey County Council.

Role Profile

The skills we need are set out in the role profile, but we are seeking a Chairman with leadership and management skills who can use their experience of developing or running an organisation, and some knowledge of the voluntary sector, to work with the Board and Chief Executive to take Sight for Surrey into its second century as a confident and growing organisation.

Sight for Surrey is user-led, and we would expect our new Chairman to either have lived experience of sensory loss, or of supporting people with sensory loss.  This is a volunteer role.

Please send a CV and letter of application by email to Sandra Chenery.

Registered Charity No: 1121949, Company No: 06309405
