Job Title: Assistant Support Coordinator
Salary: £29,250 FTE – £5,850 pro-rata (6 months’ probation period) + 3% pension contribution
Working day: Every Monday (including Bank Holidays with the exception of Christmas Day and New Years Day)
Project length: 3-year subject to continued grant funding
Location: Home-based with occasional team meetings currently at Penwortham, Preston
Reports to: Service Manager
Overall Purpose
We are looking for someone who can help our small team continue to deliver its first-class telephone befriending service for visually impaired people in England & Wales.
You will deal with queries from Service Users and Volunteers, help with matching new applicants and deal with the day-to-day processing of information.
Being confident when using the telephone, being organised and self-motivated, with a willingness to get involved in other tasks, are key elements of the post.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Delivering the regular Sightline service on Mondays, including:
- Making day-to-day calls
- Building relationships with other organisations
- Assisting with Service Users, including:
- Following the processes from the Service User referral to completion
- Maintaining relationships with Service Users
- Sign posting to any other organisations, if applicable
- Highlighting any safeguarding issues
- Assisting with Volunteers, including:
- Following the processes from the Volunteer referral to completion
- Maintaining relationships, by supporting where needed

- The successful person must have experience of the following:
- Work well within a team and show common support for all – DESIRABLE
- Good communications skills – ESSENTIAL
- Ability to work on own and well-motivated – ESSENTIAL
- Proficient at using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook – ESSENTIAL
- Happy to be reviewed under performance management – DESIRABLE
- To undertake any training or meetings to enhance their role – DESIRABLE
- Work within all Sightline’s policies and procedures – ESSENTIAL
