To continue the momentum of the Cost of Living  – Social Media Day in January, you are invited to join the second social media takeover day, alongside other sight loss organisations and the wider disability sector.

Once again, the aim of the day is to demonstrate that we are collaborating and working together on this important issue.  Highlighting that this issue isn’t going away and providing blind and partially sighted people with reassurance that we stand with them. The day will be an opportunity to signpost people to support and advice available if they are struggling.

The intention is to reach our own followers as well as a wider audience to build awareness that disabled people are worse affected than wider society, and to explain that current government support is too little, and is coming too late. By working collaboratively the messaging will have a wider reach as we aim to fill the social media channels. By all sharing a short and simple statement aimed at government, #SupportCantWait, we will create a strong and unified voice.

How you can get involved

  • Share the joint messaging at 8.15am on 6 April 2023, along with all participating organisations
  • You can also share stories from your own communities to help to bring this issue to life
  • You can also share the content of other charities – this is very valuable as we share the messaging.
  • We will be creating a thread to set out the issues for disabled people which you are also invited to use

We aim to share assets including, at least one new graphic, unbranded, which any organisation will be able to use to add to the sense of commonality along with the hashtag and thread.  If you would like to get involved please email Amy by 4.30pm on Friday 31 March 2023 and we will send you all of the suggested content as soon as it become available.
