Acts announced for charity ball to raise funds for local sensory services

The headline acts showcasing the best of the north east of Scotland’s performing talent have been revealed for a north east of Scotland charity’s “funky” fundraising ball.
North East Sensory Services (NESS) are holding the 1970s and 1980s themed night in Aberdeen in March to fundraise for the charity’s work to support people with sight and/or hearing loss live their lives to the full. A trio of top north east of Scotland performers will transport guests back in time.

Dancers from Citymoves will get the party started with a high energy routine. The charity encourages, supports and facilitates dance in the local community in Aberdeen.

Fraserburgh based crooner Paul Black will perform top tracks from the 1970s and 1980s with a bespoke performance. Paul, who is 39 and originally from Aberdeen, has performed sell-out shows all over the country and performed at venues including Madam Tussauds, Trump Turnberry and Gleneagles.

The evening will end with ten-piece disco, funk, and soul band Funk Connection. They’ll perform classic tunes from the Jackson 5 and James Brown to the Temptations, Sister Sledge, Chic, Stevie Wonder and KC & The Sunshine Band. The band boasts three singers, three horns and are famed for their “wall of sound”. The “Funkylicious” themed ball will also include a 70s themed cocktail reception and three course dinner showcasing the best of the north east of Scotland’s food and drinks scene.
The event takes place on Saturday, March 9 2024 between 6pm and 1am. It will raise funds for NESS, which supports thousands of blind and deaf people, and those with visual and hearing impairments, across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Dundee, Angus and Moray. The charity’s main objective is to help people with sensory loss to live as independently as possible. Funds raised at the event will go towards the added value services that NESS provides, including its social groups and activities. These services compliment the charity’s statutory services and help people face and overcome challenges associated with sight or hearing loss.
