Vision Support Barrow and District are pleased to announce that they have appointed Amanda Bennett, to replace outgoing Chief Executive Carl Hodge.

Amanda is well known within the Sight Loss Sector, currently working at Guide Dogs as Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.  Amanda has lived experience of vision impairment herself and has had a long history of senior leadership roles within the charity sector and local government.  Amanda is a keen campaigner for the rights of people with disabilities and has played an active role as Chair of the Access to Work Forum, improving routes to support for those in need of workplace adjustments.

“I am delighted to take up this role, building on the firm foundations already in place at VSBD. I passionately believe in the value of locally focussed, sight loss organisations, providing a wide range of services to people of all ages who live with vision impairments, helping them to build on their strengths and overcome the barriers sight loss can present. I look forward to getting to know the team and to building on my relationships with Visionary in this new capacity.”
