British Blind Sport (BBS) is delighted to announce that we will be hosting an Activation Zone at the IBSA World Games which is taking place from 17th – 27th August 2023.

The Activation Zone will be running across the middle of this international event, from 21st-25th August 2023, offering participants free taster sports sessions in partnership with NGBs.

The Activation Zone will be open Monday to Friday 11am to 2pm at Chancellor’s Court, University of Birmingham, B15 2TT. The event will feature a fantastic line-up of sporting activity taster sessions for blind and partially sighted people of all ages and abilities to participate in and learn more about the opportunities available to them in their local areas.   In addition, family and friends along with any spectator of the Games, can join in the fun to learn and appreciate how sport is adapted for people with sight loss.  Confirmed activities include judo, tennis, blind football, goalball, archery and more.

“We are excited to be hosting an Activation Zone at this year’s World Games to give blind and partially sighted people a chance to try out different sports and hopefully discover a new passion or hobby. Physical activity plays such an important role in living a happy and healthy life, we hope our Activation Zone provides people with an opportunity to experience some of the activities available.”
