Sightline is absolutely delighted to be able to announce that it has received a substantial grant from the National Lottery Reaching Communities Programme to enable the on-going delivery of its highly successful confidential telephone befriending service. The funding which runs from April 2021 until March 2024 secures the medium-term future of Sightline and will form the basis for further funding bids to secure the charity’s longer-term future.

Sightline currently operates across the North West and this will be its on-going focus during 2021. Sightline will be looking to develop its existing relationships and forge new collaborative partnerships with sight loss organisations across the region to hopefully deliver a premier befriending service to the sight loss community.

During these unprecedented times Sightline has seen a 100% increase in the number of referrals it has received. We are now supporting members of the sight loss community with a weekly phone from our highly trained and invaluable team of volunteers, with some calls lasting well in excess of an hour.
