A film created for iSightCornwall by creative agency DCA Public Relations has gained national recognition at one of the communications industry’s leading film awards.

‘Because I Cannot See’, a documentary film sharing the lived experiences of people affected by sight loss across Cornwall, was recognised in the Best Use of a Small Budget category.

The Brand Film Awards, run by PRWeek UK and Campaign UK, celebrate the UK’s most impactful branded storytelling and creative communications campaigns.

The film has also now been shortlisted for the 2026 Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Excellence Awards in the Best Use of Content category, alongside entries from multi-billion-pound corporates Santander Bank and BAE Systems. The winners are due to be announced 1 July 2026.

“Because I Cannot See” forms part of the charity’s wider See the Difference, Be the Difference campaign and tells the personal stories of people living with sight loss, exploring themes of independence, isolation and resilience.

The film has already helped increase awareness, engagement and fundraising support for the charity, while also reaching new audiences across social media and community channels.

“To receive this level of recognition for a project rooted in Cornwall is incredibly special for our team. This was a film built around real people, honest storytelling and a cause that genuinely mattered to us. As a Plymouth-based agency, moments like this prove creative businesses in the South West can compete on a national stage.”

Tristan Parkinson, Creative Director at DCA

“This film has helped us shine a light on the realities of living with sight loss and the importance of the support we provide across Cornwall. We are incredibly proud to see the project recognised nationally and grateful to DCA for telling these stories with such care, sensitivity and authenticity.”

Carole Theobald, Chief Executive of iSightCornwall

The film was created as part of iSightCornwall’s wider awareness and fundraising campaign, highlighting the experiences of people across Cornwall living with visual impairment and the life-changing support provided by the charity.
