As of 25 July 2023, 70 disability charities have co-signed Transport for All’s letter to London TravelWatch and Transport Focus on behalf of the 14.6 million disabled people in the UK to oppose the proposed rail ticket office closures. You can read Transport for All’s full press release here.

Visionary is proud to co-sign this letter as rail ticket office closures would have a hugely detrimental effect on the ability for blind and partially sighted people to travel independently.

Amy Pearman, Business and Events Lead and Nina Chesworth, Projects and Campaigns Co-ordinator at Visionary also spoke to RNIB Connect Radio about the campaigns for rail ticket closure which Visionary are involved in.

As a blind person myself, this is quite close to my heart because my job requires travel. I was hoping to be as independent as I can travelling, but with the news of these ticket offices closing, that's a scary notion that might not happen.

Nina Chesworth, Projects and Campaigns Co-ordinator at Visionary.
