British Blind Sport (BBS) is delighted to be bringing a multi-sport Have a Go Day for people living with sight loss to Swansea, Wales. The free event will take place on Saturday 27th August 2022 from 10am to 3pm at Swansea University, Sketty Ln, Sketty, Skett, Swansea, SA2 8QB. The event will include activities such as baseball, boccia and more for blind and partially sighted people of all abilities to participate in alongside their friends and family.

BBS Have a Go Days have been held successfully across the country since 2016, encouraging blind and partially sighted people to become more active. Following the event, BBS supports attendees to continue playing sport on a regular basis at local clubs and sporting facilities, taking their next steps toward leading an active lifestyle.

Philippa Bass, Participation Officer at BBS said,

“We are very excited to be making our first trip to Swansea to host a Have a Go Day for blind and partially sighted people. It's wonderful to see our attendees gain confidence throughout the day, meet others who have had similar experiences and try out new sports in a friendly setting. They always leave feeling more confident and are excited to take up sport and other activities."

BBS is also running First Steps Family Days alongside our Have a Go Days. First Steps is a national project, funded by Children in Need, that helps young people with sight loss get more active by improving their motor skills and building confidence in their abilities. Young people, aged 3-11, will be welcomed into an introductory session and then join in the wider activities available at each Have a Go Day. For more information on Family Days, please email firststeps@britishblindsport.org.uk or call 01926 424247.

Registration is open. The registration form is available on the BBS website.
