Meeting Registration

This bi-monthly forum is for anyone involved in delivering rehab services and whose organisation is part of the Visionary network.

Our next online rehab session will take place at 9AM to 10AM on Tuesday 13 August 2024.

We will be joined by Janet Harwood, Chair of the Cerebral Visual Impairment Society. Janet will give a brief overview of CVI, who may be affected and explain the difference between acquired and congenital CVI. Janet will describe the general impact of CVI and offer top tips for supporting people with CVI.

Janet is a Qualified Teacher of the Vision Impaired (QTVI) whose specialism is CVI. Janet has delivered training sessions on CVI across the UK to charities, local education authorities, hospitals, specialist schools including schools for young people with a vision impairment, specialist schools for children with cerebral palsy and for several parent groups and professional groups.

Janet has written a series of articles on CVI for RNIB ‘Insight’ magazine, an article which was published in ‘Adoption Now’ Magazine and has contributed to an article on CVI published in a magazine for community health workers.

Through her work within The CVI Society Janet continues to have contact with and advise hundreds of families of children and young adults with the condition, adults who have been diagnosed much later in life, including those who have acquired CVIs through injury or illness. This has greatly added to her understanding of the potential impact of this condition on affected people and their families.
