Accessible health information: do you have a story to tell?

RNIB logo – See differently
Have you experienced severe consequences because of receiving inaccessible health information at some point in the last 12 months?
Would you be willing to share your experience with RNIB, potentially for use in public campaigning or in the media?
The NHS England Accessible Information Standard is over 10 years old. It makes clear how NHS services need to provide accessible information to people with communication needs, including blind and partially sighted people.
Unfortunately, we know that inaccessible health information is still common, and that much more work is needed to ensure that blind and partially sighted people’s right to accessible health information becomes a reality. 10 years and counting is far too long to wait!
If you’ve received inaccessible health information over the last 12 months, and it’s seriously affected your safety, health, independence, privacy or dignity, then please do let us know.
We need to make sure that the Health Secretary is fully aware of the consequences of inaccessible health information on people’s lives, so she takes urgent action to put the NHS Standard into practice across England.
Please get in touch at Campaign.Mailbox@rnib.org.uk along with your name, age, where you’re from, and brief summary of your experience. If you would like to tell us about your experience over the phone, please call RNIB’s helpline at 03031239999 and request a call back from RNIB’s Campaigns Team.
