We’re looking for a Finance Assistant to support our Finance Manager with the day-to-day running of the finance function and help introduce a new finance system.

This is a part-time role for someone who is highly detailed-oriented with a focus on accuracy, methodical, and meticulous work ethos.

What you’ll do

You will be experienced with data input for both income and procurement processes, the ability to reconcile ledgers, and conscientious in upkeeping financial records. You’ll also support month-end and year-end work, payroll preparation, audit information, and the maintenance of the fixed asset register.

Under the supervision of the Finance Manager, you will support the introduction of a new finance system, help check and input data, test the system and support colleagues as they learn to use it. You will assist in creating simple guides and checklists.

What you’ll bring

You’ll have experience in a Finance Assistant or similar role, a sound understanding of basic accounting principles, and the accuracy needed to work confidently with financial data. You’ll be comfortable using accounting software such as Sage, Xero or QuickBooks, and you’ll have strong Excel skills.

You’ll also be able to organise your workload, prioritise tasks, and have good communication skills. Experience of a finance system change or upgrade, and accounting study such as AAT, would be an advantage.

The role is based at Units 1 & 2 The Ropeworks, Whipcord Lane, Chester, CH1 4DZ. It is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS check. Please be aware that you may come into contact with guide dogs in the workplace.
