Galloways Completes Transition of East Lancashire Services Following Successful Partnership

Galloways has officially completed the transfer of services from Accrington and District Blind Society (ADBS), marking the successful conclusion of a partnership that has safeguarded support for blind and partially sighted people across East Lancashire.
The two charities began working together in October 2024, recognising that collaboration would provide the best opportunity to protect and strengthen vital services for local people with sight loss. Since then, Galloways has undertaken an extensive programme of due diligence, governance work, service development and asset transfer to ensure a seamless transition.
With all legal processes now complete, Accrington and District Blind Society has been formally dissolved after more than 150 years of serving the local community, with Galloways now delivering services across East Lancashire as part of its wider support across Lancashire and Sefton.
People living with sight loss in East Lancashire continue to benefit from a comprehensive range of services, including sight loss advice, low vision assessments, accessible technology support, wellbeing activities and opportunities to build confidence, independence and social connections. New premises in Accrington have also been secured to ensure services remain accessible within the local community.

The completion of the transition reflects the commitment of both charities’ trustees, staff and volunteers, who worked together to ensure that support for local people remained uninterrupted throughout the process.
As Galloways continues to grow its reach across Lancashire and Sefton, the charity remains committed to providing practical support, expert advice and opportunities for people with sight loss to live independently, stay connected and achieve their goals.
