About VICTA
VICTA is a national charity empowering children and young adults who are blind or partially sighted and their families across the UK.
The VICTA Changemakers is a year-long annual programme which brings young adults together who have a shared passion for the positive advocacy of young vision impaired people. The young people we work with tell us how important it is for their voices to be heard in a sighted world full of misconceptions around what it means to be blind.
The Changemaker’s have worked together from the project’s conception, creating a programme of episodes on the topics that matter to them. Appropriately naming their podcast series ‘See it our way: the VICTA podcast’, this new show strives to give visibility to their voices and individuality; help raise awareness; and be a source of inspiration and reassurance to their peers.
Episode one ‘How to be blind’ launches on Thursday 26 February 2026 and will be available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and the @VICTAUK YouTube channel.
You can expect candid conversations, personal experiences and helpful tips for those navigating sight loss. It’s a magazine-style segment show that will bring a mix of serious topics and more light-hearted takes on everyday life. It will be an ideal listen for young VI people and parents of a VI child, but with the end goal of reaching a wider audience to help spread awareness and understanding.
Listeners can expect a new episode every other month as it alternates monthly with VICTA’s other new podcast show, ‘The VICTA Parent Voice’.

Ellie Wallwork“This podcast will be really important for people who want to feel more connected to their vision impairment, who want to find community with others like them and for anyone else who is even a little bit curious about who we are!”
Jerri Mathers“It has been a great experience and can’t wait to educate people on blindness and break barriers. I am Jerri a fully qualified makeup artist despite being blind.”
Star Skyrme“See it our way is a podcast for everyone! For sighted people to have a glimpse into the world of being visually impaired and for other visually impaired people to connect and share their lived experience, to empower each other”.
Millie-Jayne Britton“Being part of the ‘See it our way podcast’ as a VICTA Changemaker has been incredibly empowering. The podcast gives blind and visually impaired people the chance to share our experiences in our own words honestly, openly and without stereotypes. I hope it helps sighted listeners feel more confident and informed, and that it reminds other blind and visually impaired people that they’re not alone.”
