Vision Support is seeking a Trustee with fundraising experience to join our Board as we celebrate 150 years of impact in 2026 and grow our fundraising strategy to support even more people.

About Vision Support
Vision Support is a regional sight loss charity supporting people across Cheshire, Halton, and North Wales. With annual income of £1.6m and strong partnerships with healthcare providers, we deliver services that help people with vision impairment remain confident, independent and connected.
Role Overview
The Trustee will provide strategic support and oversight of fundraising and communications, helping the Board strengthen income generation and long-term sustainability.
Key contributions include:
- Advising the Board on fundraising strategy and income diversification
- Supporting the development of major donor, corporate and grant funding opportunities
- Acting as an ambassador for Vision Support and supporting networks and partnerships
- Ensure the charity operates in line with its charitable objects and governing document
- Attend and contribute to quarterly Board meetings at our Chester office, and contribute to Board development
- Support and challenge the CEO and senior team constructively
Person Specification
We are particularly interested in people with:
- Senior-level fundraising experience
- Experience across multiple fundraising income streams
- Strategic thinking and the ability to evaluate fundraising performance
- Experience in communications, marketing or brand development
- A commitment to improving the lives of people with sight loss
- First-time Trustees are welcome to apply!
Nice to have:
- Charity sector experience
- Corporate partnership or major donor fundraising experience
- Knowledge of sight loss or disability issues

Time Commitment
Approximately 4 hours per month, including:
- Quarterly Board meetings
- Preparation and paper review
- Occasional advice, networking and annual Board away day
Term of Appointment
Initial 3-year term, renewable up to a maximum of 9 years in line with our governing document.
