A local sensory charity brought festive cheer while raising money to support its vital work with its annual Christmas fayre.

Around 350 people got into the festive spirit at the Forth Valley Sensory Centre event, which raised nearly £2,000. Labour MP for Falkirk, Euan Stainbank, was among those who came to enjoy music, food, and stalls.

The charity, which supports thousands of people with sight and/or hearing loss every year, raised a total of £1,903.54 on the day. Festive wreaths, Christmas-themed sweet treats, and handicrafts were among the items on offer. Stalls included Woodside Plants, Ally D Designs, Seb’s Crafts, and the Very Average Baker, as well as the centre’s own bake sale and tombola.

The centre’s sensory singers choir brought seasonal cheer at the free event on Friday, November 28, with their special performance of Christmas songs. The centre’s festive fun continues with its winter hamper raffle, expected to be the biggest to date. Among the prizes up for grabs are six festive hampers and several vouchers. The draw takes place on Friday, December 19, so winners will be able to collect their prizes in time for Christmas.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, and supported our fantastic community event. The centre was full of festive cheer and a wonderful Christmassy buzz and we raised an amazing total of £1,903.54 on the day. The money raised will help us make sure that every person who has sensory loss feels included and supported as part of a thriving community. Our hamper raffle is still underway. Our winner will be announced via our Facebook page on Friday, December 19, giving our winners time to pick it up in the run up to Christmas."

“From all of us at the centre, I want to wish everyone a great festive season.”

Jacquie Winning MBE, chief executive of Forth Valley Sensory Centre
