New project will help make climate action accessible to all

A local sensory centre has announced the launch of a new project designed to make climate action more accessible for people with sight or hearing loss.
Forth Valley Sensory Centre (FVSC) is developing SustainAble For All, an accessible map showcasing sustainable projects across the Forth Valley. The map will provide accessible, clear, practical information on local environmental initiatives, highlighting what each project involves, who it may benefit, and how to take part.

The project was developed to ensure that people living with sight and/or hearing loss are able to take part in their community’s response to climate change, meaning they can be part of solutions. This initiative is being run in partnership with Forth Environment Link and is supported by the Scottish Government’s public engagement strategy for climate change, and the Climate Engagement Fund.
FVSC will work closely alongside centre users to support the development of the sustainability map and ensure it is as accessible as possible.
Alongside their current centre users, FVSC are looking to reach out to the local community for their suggestions and input. If you, or someone you know, would like to be involved in helping shape the project, or would like further information, please click here to email Jenn.
FVSC are also welcoming people to their centre on 29 September for the official launch of the project. This is a free event, but registration is essential.
Jacquie Winning, FVSC chief executive“Climate change affects us all, however it is often the case that people with sensory loss are left out of the conversation. By developing SustainAble For All, alongside our centre users and local community, and our partners, Forth Environment Link, we are looking to ensure that sustainability is inclusive, and no one is excluded from helping protect our planet. We are welcoming any suggestions or input from people across Forth Valley and I encourage those who wish to be involved to contact us.”
FVSC has supported people with sensory loss and their families across Falkirk, Stirling, and Clackmannanshire for more than 15 years. The centre welcomes around 20,000 visitors each year and serves as a vital resource for information, support, and community activities. It offers a wide range of services to help people live independently and with confidence. These include IT support, cookery classes, excursions, and sign and lip-reading sessions.
Volunteering opportunities are also available, helping individuals develop new skills and build confidence.
