Sight Loss Information Officer

Hours: 21 hours per week (days and times to be negotiated)
Salary: £12.52 per hour £24,089.10 FTE

Vision Support is dedicated to supporting people with vision impairments and their loved ones. We are looking for a Sight Loss Information Officer to join our team and provide vital information and support to individuals navigating the challenges and barriers of living with vision impairment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Sight Loss Information Officer, you will be a crucial front-line point of contact for people seeking guidance, support, and information in Cheshire. You will:
- Answer calls and referrals, actively listening to the issues faced to ensure appropriate signposting.
- Research, maintain and update a comprehensive database of local organisations.
- Arrange and attend events, talks and meetings to promote the Sight Loss Information Line.
- Build relationships with external organisations and partners to promote the Sight Loss Information Line.
- Produce, monitor and send information packs to service users following calls, including relevant information and a summary of the outcomes of the call.
- Update the Vision Support database for monitoring and to improve service delivery.
- Collect feedback at regular intervals regarding the service received.
- Contribute positively to the success of Vision Support’s strategic aims, recognising the importance of integrated working.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:

- Confident and engaging: You build rapport quickly and can confidently promote the service in an engaging way.
- Organised and resourceful: You can manage multiple enquiries, keep track of information, and confidently refer individuals to the right services.
- A clear communicator: You can convey information in an accessible and straightforward manner.
- Knowledgeable (or eager to learn): You either have experience or are willing to develop a strong understanding of vision impairment and the support services available.
Person Specification
All criteria are essential unless otherwise specified.
- Experience within an administrative role.
- Strong IT skills.
- Understanding of vision impairment (desirable).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrable self-motivation and resilience.
- Excellent time management skills with a flexible approach to workload.
