Closing date: Thursday 01 June 2023
Location: Home-based
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: up to £42,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications (pro rata)
Contract: 18 month fixed term contract with possibility to become permanent. Secondment opportunities will also be considered.

We’re Blind Veterans UK, a charity that helps vision-impaired ex-service people from every generation rebuild their lives after their sight has been affected. Founded in 1915, by Sir Arthur Pearson, to help the many veterans losing their sight after the First World War, we have over a century of experience providing the best care to our veterans.

In order to realise the full potential of vision research for the benefit of blind veterans and the wider vision impaired sector, it was decided to separate our research department into its own charity in 2021, Bravo Victor.

The Sight Loss Sector Partnership has awarded Bravo Victor a grant to establish and operate a new and exciting web-based development, the Visual Impairment (VI) Insight Hub. The Hub will provide accessible UK research related resources and literature on people living with sight loss.  We are now looking for a Hub Manager to join Bravo Victor and lead our VI Insight Hub on a full-time basis, for an initial 18 month fixed term contract with the possibility to become permanent. Secondment opportunities will also be considered.

As the Hub Manager, you will oversee the development and management of the Hub, engaging stakeholders to further build and populate the Hub.  Supported by a web development company and working groups drawn from partner organisations, you will co-ordinate and manage information and produce content and communications.

You will collaborate with charities, academia and government departments to create infographics and animated summaries that inform the visually impaired and provide vital information.
Additionally, you will present work to potential users or stakeholders, using recognised and suitable channels to communicate findings and implications.

About You

To be considered as a Hub Manager, you will need:

  • Project management experience
  • Management experience
  • Experience of bringing stakeholders and contractors together to deliver on projects
  • Experience of organising and managing formal meetings
  • Experience of providing executive reports or C Suite level engagement
  • The ability to produce risk registers and risk assessments
  • Knowledge of information curation and GDPR
  • Knowledge of website management, curation and communications
  • Outstanding verbal, written and online communication skills
  • A degree level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent vocational experience

Other organisations may call this role Research Hub Manager, Hub Team Leader, Charity Hub Manager, Project Manager, or Programme Co-ordinator.  Webrecruit and Blind Veterans UK and Bravo Victor are equal opportunities employers, value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment. Equal opportunities are the only acceptable way to conduct business and we believe that the more inclusive our environments are, the better our work will be.
