Welcoming our new members of Team Visionary!
We are delighted to be starting the week sharing the news that Visionary will be welcoming two amazing new people to our team in January.
As you know, Sarah Cosby sadly leaves us at Christmas but we are so pleased to share that Sarah will be making way for our new Communications and Events Lead, Amy Pearman and that we will also be welcoming Lucy Williams in a brand new role of Partnership and Innovation Co-ordinator.
Below we wanted to share a bit more information on our new team members…
Amy Pearman, Communications and Events Lead
We really hoped we would find someone for this role from within the Visionary membership and we have! Amy joins us from Sight Advice South Lakes where she was Service Manager. We are so excited for Amy to join Team Visionary and asked her what she would like to tell you about herself:
“I am really looking forward to joining the team at Visionary in the role of Communications and Events Lead and to the opportunity to build on my previous experience and skills. I started my career in the hospitality and events industry but quickly realised that my training and experience could support organisations to make a difference in local communities. Nearly 20 years later, I have worked in a number of third sector organisations. I moved to the sight loss sector 5 years ago, initially, as part of Cumbria Societies for the Blind and then as Service Manager at Sight Advice South Lakes. I am continually inspired by the achievements of people living with sight loss and the local charities supporting them, so I am relishing the opportunity to work with the wider Visionary membership.
After relocating from Birmingham, I now live in Cumbria with my family and enjoy running and football. I am also a junior fell running coach and volunteer with a local grassroots football club.
I look forward meeting you all in the new year.”
As much as we are so pleased that Amy will be joining Visionary, we know that Sight Advice South Lakes will be so sad to see her go. Claire Park, Chief Executive of Sight Advice South Lakes said: “Although we are incredibly sad to see Amy leave Sight Advice South Lakes we are delighted that she will be staying within the Sight Loss sector. It has been a privilege to watch Amy develop her skills and confidence in her role as Services Manager over the past few years and I am excited to see this continue in her role at Visionary. Amy is a true organiser, has a great sense of fun and I know will be an incredible asset to the Visionary team – we wish her all the best on this exciting new chapter”.
Lucy Williams, Partnership and Innovation Co-ordinator
We are really excited to welcome Lucy Williams to the Visionary team as our Partnership and Innovation Co-ordinator. Lucy will be leading work with Sarah Halliwell on Inclusion and Lived experience. She comes to us from the Royal Astronomical Society where she was assistant editor. Her previous roles include being a UK Space School mentor! Lucy is passionate about inclusion and role of people with sight loss in shaping and leading services – she has spoken at a conferences about being Visually Impaired and how the space community can become more accessible to disabled people.
Amy and Lucy will start work with us in January and we know that everyone will make them feel welcome!
