Professor Shahina Pardhan is awarded the Spectacle Makers’ Silver medal for her research.

Congratulations to Professor Shahina Pardhan, who was awarded the Spectacle Makers’ Silver medal last week for her research into the the global visual impact of diabetic retinopathy on eye health and vision and how vision loss affects navigation through environments, and for her continuing work championing equity and diversity in science.

Professor Pardhan is the UK’s first Asian female Professor of Optometry and is currently the Director of Vision and Eye Research Institute within the School of Medicine at Anglia Ruskin University. She has authored over 200 publications and leads a multinational and multidisciplinary team of researchers in clinical and public health research.

The Master Liz Tomlin/Shilling was delighted to present this award on behalf of the Company, which continues to support groundbreaking vision research and spotlight the crucial role that multidisciplinary teams play in the advancement of vision science.
