After an enforced break of two years, Metro Blind Sport are once again hosting the Annual Athletics Open on the 11 June 2022 at Mile End Stadium in London.

Now in its 44th year, Metro Blind Sport will be welcoming athletes of all ages and experience, throughout the UK to join us in London for our annual competition.

The athletics event is the perfect opportunity for blind and partially sighted people to experience what it’s like to take part in a professionally organised athletics event. We have official starters, scorers and judges, as well as commentary for the event. Ideal for people who have never attended an event before and want to compete or for people who are looking to improve their performance. And it is FREE to attend.

The Annual Metro Athletics Open is the highlight of our year. The event remains the number one event for blind and partially sighted people, in the UK. Open to everyone from juniors to veteran athletes the event incorporates a comprehensive track and field programme ranging the 60m sprint to 5,000m. Field events include the high and long jump, shot put, discus and javelin.

The event is run in accordance with UK Athletics and International Blind Sports Association’s rules by a team of qualified officials, the event is a great day out for families and many new friendships are forged.
