Visionary invites you to participate in our pioneering research project, in collaboration with Motability and Revealing Reality, an independent research organization. Project details
Visionary members are well aware of the challenges faced by blind and partially sighted individuals when accessing public transport. However, there is still much to learn about the broader impact of poor access on various aspects of life, such as health, education/employment, emotional well-being, and mental health. That’s why we have secured a grant from Motability to conduct an in-depth research project, and we need your organisation’s participation to make it a resounding success.
We are looking for four Visionary members located in Scotland, Wales, and England to take part. We would love to hear from you if your local organisation meets two of the following criteria:
- Operating within both rural and urban areas
- Operating in an area with a high level of ethnic diversity, including BAME communities
- Working with people of a range of ages, including children
What taking part involves
Your organisation’s role will be to connect the researchers with five blind or partially sighted individuals and four local stakeholders who will participate in detailed interviews conducted by Revealing Reality, the research company. We anticipate this will involve taking part in a short briefing phone call with the Revealing Reality team and communicating occasionally with them via email or remote call in June and July while you work together to make connections with your beneficiaries. Revealing Reality are more than happy to discuss the details of participation before committing to the collaboration and find an arrangement which works best for your organisation.
What are the benefits of taking part?
Your organisation will receive up to £1000 as compensation for your valuable work and local expertise. Additionally, participants will receive a ‘thank-you’ payment from Revealing Reality for their expert contributions. Visionary are also committed to providing ongoing support to help you leverage the research report with policymakers and transport providers, tailoring our approach to suit your needs.

To express your interest, please complete the Google Form here before 5pm on 21 June 2023. We anticipate starting the project soon after the selection process, and it will run for 12 months, culminating in a workshop at the Visionary conference.
