The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Childcare and Early Education run and organise the Childcare and Early Education Week which takes place 25-29 January 2021. They have also produced a briefing pack for the Childcare and Early Education week to raise awareness of the early education sector amongst Members of Parliament and to build strong relationships between practitioners and their local MP.

It also celebrates the hard work and dedication of early education professionals, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The sector has played a vital role in continuing to educate and support vulnerable children and the children of key workers, allowing them to keep the country running throughout the pandemic, and continues to play an integral part in making up for learning time lost during 2020, particularly by remaining open to all children during the latest lockdown.

The APPG exists to support and promote the childcare and early education sector, and this has been a particularly difficult year for our practitioners. As such, we want to create an opportunity to celebrate you and all of the great work that you do for children and families across the country.

The attached briefing pack contains the following resources for participating in the campaign:

  • Tips on writing to your MP and a template email to fill out;
  • A summary of the APPG’s work and key ‘asks’ of the Government;
  • Information on social media. You can tweet about the campaign using #ChildcareandEarlyEducationWeek and #CelebratingOurSector, or tweet the APPG directly on @APPGearlyyears;
  • Information on a survey of parents the APPG is running this week.

Our parent survey has launched today. We would be grateful if you could promote this amongst your networks.
