Welcome to Visionary

Visionary is a membership organisation for local sight loss charities - sometimes known as local societies or associations for blind and partially sighted people.

Visionary believes that local organisations are best placed to offer local help and support. They have lots of information and advice and practical solutions to living with sight loss.

If you are experiencing sight loss or know someone who is, find the nearest local society or association by entering your postcode in the postcode search box above or telephone our helpline.

Government Consultation on the draft Regulations and Guidance for the Care Act

As reported in briefing no 107, the draft Regulations and Guidance for the Care Act were published by the Department of Health on 6th June. They propose new eligibility criteria for social care, changed access to rehabilitation and suggest a new way for the sector to engage with people who have recently lost their sight.

Organisations have until the 15th August to respond to the consultation.

We confirmed that Visionary would be responding collectively on behalf of members and we asked members to send their views to by the end of July so that they can be included. In addition we wanted to encourage all local societies to respond directly and if any needed assistance doing this to contact Angela for help.

The RNIB has now produced a briefing to support any individual responses to the Care Act regulations and guidance consultation.  Click here to read the Government COnsultation on the draft Regulations and Guidance for the Care Act.
